A "Pull" versus a "Push" Approach to Leadership Development

Traditional leadership training and coaching programs typically focus on leadership competencies and tend to be psychological, behavioural  and somewhat mechanistic based.

 

At THINKING PARTNERS, we turn this process on its head:

  • First, we challenge leaders to define a breakthrough goal or outcome that they passionately believe in.

  • Then, as "Thinking Partners" we collaborate deeply with the leader and his/ her leadership team to develop a winning game plan and set of actions that are needed to deliver on these goals or outcomes

  • And finally, based on these breakthrough goals and winning game plans, we coach the leader (and teams) on identifying the patterns of thinking and behaviour (how they show up as leaders) needed to achieve these results and act as accountability partners to help them make the highly leveraged, lasting behavioural changes that transform their leadership impact and effectiveness.

ROB'S BIO

Rob is an experienced global executive, leadership coach, mentor and flow/ peak performance strategist with a proven track record for strategic thinking, operational excellence, leadership and team development in Australasia, Asia, Japan and the US.

Rob combines 40+years of global business experience with the latest theories, tools and techniques from evidence-based coaching, positive psychology, neuroscience research and adult development, to help leaders and top teams deliver breakthrough business results faster, make highly leveraged behavioural changes, and become more effective leaders during key transitional periods in their careers.

As a leadership coach and mentor, Rob has successfully worked with leaders and top teams from companies such as CSL, Astra Zeneca, Sandoz, Stryker, Telstra, Reckitt Benckiser and Fisher and Paykel, within the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to his executive coaching and consulting career, Rob was regional vice president for Merck Sharp & Dohme in Asia and Vice President of Marketing for Japan and Australasia, and has held a number of other executive positions in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries.

 

In these roles, Rob has led or participated in a number of major leadership and talent management initiatives in China, Korea, Japan and SEA which have involved cross functional and cross-cultural teams within complex matrix organizations.

Now, upon reaching 65, Rob has decided to REFIRE! NOT RETIRE! and to continue his life-long passion for being the very best version of himself and a role model of possibilities for others to be their own best version of themselves so that they can produce outcomes that matter most to themselves and the world in which we all live.
